Writing assessment

Question 1 (50 minutes)

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4818067/

Read carefully the scientific article linked above. Use the article as a basis for an informative blog post of at least 500 words aimed at a typical Mighty Kids customer, that repurposes the original text with a new angle. Your blog post should be focused around a particular piece of information from the original text which you find suitable to become the topic of your new article, by its scope for elaboration, expansion, and connection with other details from the original text.

The piece of information that you choose should be clearly identifiable from your title, introduction and conclusion. It is not necessary for your blog post to touch on all of the material in the original article, and it wouldn’t be helpful to try to achieve this; on the other hand, everything you refer to must be at least clearly implied from the original text, if not explicitly mentioned. You needn’t worry about referencing.

It may be assumed that the liposomes in Mighty Kids products are state of the art, and optimised in every respect, though this needn’t be directly mentioned.

You should also refer briefly to the following Mighty Kids blog posts to make an approximate match of tone and style for your blog post:

https://mightykids.co.uk/do-we-really-need-supplements/

Question 2 (20 minutes)

Secondly, you should aim to create a shorter post in a style more suited to social media, that aims to engage and persuade an unmotivated reader to read your blog post.  You should describe within your text, in square brackets, an image to feature at the top of your blog post, and two images within the text of your social media post (though you shouldn’t spend much time thinking about the images).

Question 3 (20 minutes)

At Mighty Kids, we have just released a new “wild berry” flavour of our liposomal magnesium, and we have many customers on our mailing list who didn’t like the previous flavours. Write an email to persuade them to try the new flavour. You can offer a 50% discount. You should refer to benefits being reported by thousands of parents (especially sleep and calmness), and mention that the flavour is much milder, whereas the previous flavours were sometimes considered harsh.
